TAPIOLA CHOIR ANNOUNCES:

THE 4TH TAPIOLA CHOIR INTERNATIONAL CHORAL COMPOSITION COMPETITION 2026

Tapiola Choir announces the 4th International Choral Composition Competition 2026 for youth and children’s choir. The competition is open for all applicants internationally and has no age limit. The aim of the competition is to find new and interesting compositions in two categories: a cappella for young voices (SSA+divisions) and a cappella for young voices + strings (SSA+strings, max. 15 players) The results of the competition will be announced in June 2026.

“The competition is a wonderful opportunity to continue Tapiola Choir’s longstanding tradition of co-operation with professional composers and to promote children’s choral music of the highest quality” says Pasi Hyökki, the Artistic Director of Tapiola Choir.

The chair of the jury will be Tapiola Choir’s Artistic Director Pasi Hyökki. Other members of the jury will be published later.

A total of 6,000 EUR will be awarded at the discretion of the jury. The jury also reserves the right not to distribute prizes.

All submissions to the competition must be sent by email to competition@tapiolankuoro.fi. All submissions must meet the requirements of the rules of the competition. Entry to the competition closes on the 18th of January 2026 at 11.59 p.m. (UTC+2, local Finnish time). Any applications submitted after this will not be taken into consideration.

TAPIOLAN KUORON NELJÄS KANSAINVÄLINEN SÄVELLYSKILPAILU 2026

Tapiolan kuoron kannatusyhdistys ry julkistaa neljännen kansainvälisen kuorosävellyskilpailun kaikille lapsi- ja nuorisokuoroille säveltämisestä kiinnostuneille. Kilpailu on avoin kaikenikäisille hakijoille. Sävellyskilpailun tarkoitus on löytää uusia ja mielenkiintoisia a cappella -sävellyksiä lapsi- ja nuorisokuorolle (SSA+diviisit) sekä jousistolle (SSA+jouset, max. 15 soittajaa).

”Koen tämän mainiona mahdollisuutena jatkaa Tapiolan kuoron mittavaa säveltäjäyhteistyöperinnettä sekä tuoda esiin korkeatasoista lapsi- ja nuorisokuoromusiikkia”, kertoo Pasi Hyökki, Tapiolan kuoron taiteellinen johtaja.

Kilpailun tulokset julkistetaan kesäkuussa 2026. Tuomariston puheenjohtajana toimii Tapiolan kuoron taiteellinen johtaja, Pasi Hyökki. Muut tuomariston jäsenet julkistetaan myöhemmin.

Kilpailun palkintoina jaetaan yhteensä 6 000 euroa. Tuomaristo pidättää oikeuden olla jakamatta palkintosummaa.

Kilpailuhakemukset toimitetaan pdf-muodossa osoitteeseen competition@tapiolankuoro.fi 18.1.2026 klo 23.59 mennessä (UTC+2). Kilpailuun osallistuvien hakemusten tulee olla kilpailun sääntöjen mukaisia. Myöhästyneitä hakemuksia ei hyväksytä kilpailuun.

The 3rd tapiola choir international composition competition 2024 received 173 new pieces. it is a record amount of new choral pieces in our competition history! we are delighted to have received such an interest in our competition.

The jury chose 10 pieces to the final stage of the competition. The winning pieces were be published and awarded in the Gala Concert on the 9th of June 2024 during Tapiola Choir’s International Summer Summit Festival in Helsinki. The Gala Concert was live-streamed on the Choir’s Youtube Channel.
