Good quality is recognized worldwide. In recognition of this, the Tapiola Choir has been awarded many distinguished prizes and awards.
In 1996, the Choir received its most important merit to date, the UNESCO Prize for the Promotion of the Performing Arts. This was the first time that the prize had been awarded in the field of music.
In 1993 and 1994, the London-based Classical Music Awards nominated the Tapiola Choir for Choir of the Year.
1971 Let the Peoples Sing, international choir competition organized by the BBC, 1st prize in the school choir category and the grand prix, the BBC Silver Rose Bowl.
1970 Nordic children’s choir competition in Stockholm, organized by Swedish Radio, 1st prize.
1967 Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) national competition for children’s and youth choirs, 1st prize.
1965 Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) national competition for school choirs, 1st prize.
